Dr. Zane R. Thornburg
Postdoctoral Research Associate
Zane received his B.A. in Physics and Chemistry from The College of Wooster in Wooster, OH.
He received his Ph.D. from The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2023 advised by Prof. Zaida Luthey-Schulten. His thesis work focused on simulating whole-cell reaction-diffusion models of the genetically minimal bacterium, JCVI-syn3A.
Zane joined the lab as a Cancer Center at Illinois – Beckman Institute Postdoctoral Fellow in December 2023. Current research focuses on 3D dynamics of cancer cell spheroid morphology, simulating mRNA splicing dynamics, and characterizing kinetic parameters for cell-scale reaction models.
